![]() My regular days are Wednesday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm. I also regularly repair clocks for a client in Switzerland!Īfter twenty-five years of trading from Tankerton, it is now time to move on – much has changed in the world in this time and I have found a new workshop that suits my current needs very well.įrom August 2021 I shall be working from new premises at Unit 6, Chalkpit Farm, Bekesbourne near Canterbury CT4 5EU.Ĭhalkpit Farm is a charming rural small business centre that is easy to find and has plenty of parking situated on the Adisham road between Bridge and Littlebourne. Word then got around locally that there was a clock repairer in the town with High Street premises and the enquiries for servicing grew. The decision was made to concentrate more on the servicing repair and restoration of customers clocks, with a selection of clocks available for sale. I now have customers from all over Kent and South East London and as far away as the north of East Anglia, and the Isle Of Wight. With the constant increase in the interest in quality clocks, I moved part of my workshop to the shop in order to combine an in~shop presence offering advice to prospective purchasers with ongoing preparation of stock. I have subsequently been awarded the internationally recognised MBHI – Member British Horological Institute. At this point, the opportunity came to study horology under an extremely experienced tutor, in one of the last colleges to teach the subject to qualification level, where at the end of the three year course I passed all my exams. I had attended evening classes in clock repair for enthusiasts, and then completed an excellent internationally recognised three year distance learning course, all the while expanding my knowledge and grasp of the subject. Originally I was working solely on my own stock since 1989 from a private workshop, preparing clocks for sale at specialist clock fairs I attended both in London and the Midlands and to the local clock trade. We are also happy to refill and overhaul mercury barometers.I had been repairing at my old address in Tankerton since 1996 when my wife took over the antique shop that has been trading there since 1985. With certain electrically driven timepieces too. We regularly service and restore most types of mechanical clocks ( including Anniversary & Cuckoo clocks ), and we have been successful ![]() All customers receive a written estimate of theĮxpected cost of the job before work commences. We aim to give excellent customer satisfaction at a realistic price. We have also been successful in restoring other public clocks, including this one ( pictured right ) which now stands in the reception to the Elgin Council Offices. Laich of Moray Clocks was happy to work in consultation with Historic Scotland in 2004, giving expert knowledge and advice to their own engineer. We also have customers sent to us from jewellers in Inverness, and have repaired clocks from as far afield as Orkney and the Hebrides. We are very proud to be recommended to clients by one of the major removal companies and three jewellers within Elgin. ![]() ![]() We are a small, family-run firm which enables us to offer true craftmanship, combined with flexibility and a friendly, personal service. Laich of Moray Clocks was established in 1996, and has had a steadily growing reputation and clientele since then. ** Please note that workshop visits are currently by appointment only **
